R. Ramakrishnan

Mr. R. Ramakrishnan is Executive Director of Bajaj Electricals Limited. He is on the Board of the Company. Bajaj is one of the oldest companies in the US$ 4 Billion turnover Bajaj Group in India which enjoys a Market Capitalization of US $ 8 Billions. The Bajaj group employs over 36000 people and it’s business interests span across sectors like Automobiles, Steel, Sugar, Insurance, Financial services, Consumer goods, Power Transmission, Engineering & Projects, Lighting, Luminaires, Appliances, Fans and Power tools. The group has a Joint Venture with Allianz for it’s Insurance business and collaborations with Kawasaki for Motor cycles, Trilux Lenze for Luminaires, Morphy Richards for Appliances, Midea for Fans and Black & Decker for Power tools. The company has had technical collaborations with Philips for Lighting and General Electric for Luminaires in the past.

Mr. R.Ramakrishnan is responsible for the Lighting, Luminaires, Appliances & Fans SBU’s of Bajaj Electricals Ltd. apart from certain corporate functions such as Information Technology, Advertising, Customer Care, TQM and Corporate Planning. Mr. Ramakrishnan is also a Director on the Board of M/s. Hind Lamps Limited, UP a former joint venture Company with M/s. Philips NV of Holland. He is also a Director on the Board of M/s. Bajaj Ventures Limited, Pune, (formerly Black & Decker Bajaj Ltd.) engaged in the manufacture of Power Tools. During his tenure with Bajaj Electricals Limited, the Company has undertaken a major financial restructuring exercise and has also gone in for a SBU structure with shared corporate services. The Company has put into place a strong China Sourcing Strategy. The company has seen a significant enhancement in shareholder value, profitability, market capitalization and brand equity under Mr.R. Ramakrishnan’s leadership.

Prior to joining Bajaj Electricals Limited, Mr. R. Ramakrishnan had worked with India’s No.1 Paint Company, M/s. Asian Paints (India) Limited for around 18 years. During this period, he rose up from an Executive Trainee to a General Manager with Asian Paints. He made significant contributions in areas like Sales Management, Marketing, Factory Management, Productivity and Innovation. His notable contribution to the development of Andhra Pradesh has been a paper presented by him in February 1995 on “Non Monetary Incentives for Accelerated Industrial Development of Andhra Pradesh”.

Mr Ramakrishnan is a Member of the Executive Council of Indian Society of Advertisers and a Member of Consumer Complaints Council of Advertising Standards Council of India. Mr Ramakrishnan is a recipient of various Awards such as “Business Leadership Award ” of Institute for Technology & Management, Mumbai during 2006, “Indira Super Achievers Award” during 2004 and HR Excellence Award for “Organization That Creates Fun & Joy at Work” during 2005. He is an active member of Industry Associations such as Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Bombay Management Association (BMA), IFMA and ELCOMA. He has been an active participant in CII – WEF India Economic Summits. Recently he was an Active Speaker at the Campus Symposium in Iserlohn, Germany held on 28th and 29th October 2006 along with Luminaries like former US President William J. Clinton, Lord Chris Patten, General James L. Jones, Mr. Ralph Weyler, Mr. Christian Berner to name a few. His presentationd was highly appreciated by the International gathering.

Mr. Ramakrishnan did his Post Graduation in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur in 1982 after graduating in B.Sc. (Honours) from Osmania University, Hyderabad with a distinction in 1980. Mr Ramakrishnan is considered as an expert on China v/s India, Economic Policies, Manufacturing competencies, VAT etc and has been an active speaker on various TV channels and other public platforms. Mr. Ramakrishnan also delivers lectures on Marketing and Leadership in Management Development Programmes and Business Schools.

T V Mohandas Pai
Director-Human Resources, Infosys
T. V. Mohandas Pai is Member of the Board and Director-Human Resources, Education and Research and Administration. Mr. Pai joined Infosys in 1994 and has served as a Member of the Board since May 2000. Mr Pai served as the Chief Financial Officer from 1994 to 2006. In 2006, he voluntarily remitted the office of CFO to lead the efforts in the areas of Human Resources and Education and Research. Mr. Pai has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom) from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore, Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from Bangalore University and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA).

During his tenure as CFO, Mr. Pai has played a strategic role in the transformation of Infosys to one of the most respected and widely-known software services companies in the world. He put in place the country’s first publicly articulated financial policy. He played a key role in branding the company among the investor community and enhancing transparency and disclosure levels. The Infosys Annual Report, under his supervision, has won the Best Presented Annual Accounts Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for ten years in succession as well as from the South Asia Federation of Accountants for the year 2000. Mr. Pai was an integral part of the Infosys Team that enabled the first listing of an India-registered company on NASDAQ and the first sponsored secondary offering of American Depositary Shares by an Indian company. Mr. Pai was voted ‘CFO of the Year’ in 2001 instituted by IMA India (formerly EIU India) and American Express. He won the “Best CFO in India” award by Finance Asia in 2002, and “Best Chief Financial Officer in India” in the Asia Money Best Managed Companies Poll 2004.

Mr Pai has been active in working with regulators to improve the business ecosystem. He was also a member of the Kelkar Committee constituted by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India (GoI) for reforming direct taxes, the Non-Resident Taxation Committee, the High Powered Committee on E-Commerce & Taxation. He is currently a member of the SEBI Accounting Standards Sub-committee and the Empowered committee for setting up the Tax Information Network of the GoI. He also works with the Union and State Governments in the fields of education, information technology and business. Mr Pai is also a Trustee of the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation, the oversight body of the International Accounting Standards Board.

In addition to his current responsibilities, Mr Pai is working with governments and decision makers across India to improve the quality of education and availability of skilled manpower in India. He is also involved in Akshaya Patra Foundation, a project providing mid-day meals to over 5,30,000 children across India with the aim of reaching out to one million children.

Regan George, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, is a nationally recognised consultant, speaker, author and trainer on Internet recruiting and recruitment strategy.

Born in New Zealand, Regan's recruitment career began in 1992 recruiting IT professionals and consultants for global investment banks and management consultancies in the UK.

In 1997 Regan founded an Internet recruitment training and consultancy company to introduce and implement Internet recruitment technology, strategy and techniques into corporate Europe.

Regan has worked with clients such as HSBC, James Capel, Morgan Grenfell, ING Barings, GE, BBC, Tiscali, Shell, Chubb and many other large corporations.

Realising the potential of offshore Recruitment Process Outsourcing, Regan founded OS2i in 2001.


Technology & Recruitment : The Road Ahead

R Sundar, President,

An Economics graduate from the University of Madras (now Chennai), he did his Masters in Marketing Management (MMM) from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Business Management (JBIMS).

This year, he would enter the 27th year working with The Times of India Group. In these eventful years, he has worn different hats - those of Sales, Publishing, Brand Management and now President of the newly formed Company Times Business Solutions (TBS). He is credited with the introduction of the concept of Classifieds in India and especially the auto, property and matrimonial sections. Other publications have been quick to emulate this concept and today one cannot dream of a newspaper without a Classifieds Section. Under the stewardship of Mr. Sundar, Times of India- Delhi and Economic Times-Calcutta attained their respective city's Numero Uno status for the first time.

Even after so many achievements in his kitty, he has a gleam of excitement in his eyes when he speaks of Times Business Solutions. TBS owns a number of internet enabled businesses, which have grown to become India’s Premier Classifieds Portals and Brands to reckon with under his leadership. Besides his current responsibilities, Mr. Sundar also presides as a Director of the Times School of Management (TSM) and Times Centre for Media Studies (TCMS).

Mr. Sundar is an enthusiast of Carnatic Music and loves traveling. He is a resident of Delhi and is married to Jayshree who sits on the Board of Leo Burnett in India. They have a daughter called Tarini who is a student.

Jacob Samuel Vazholil

Mr. Jacob Samuel, Associate Partner, Elixir Web Solutions, has been a visionary in the field of Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO), with close to a decade’s experience in this field. He spearheads the growth of the recruitment industry manifold by using strategic inferences from across his entrepreneurial experiences. Under his inspiring and able leadership, the RPO concept has grown synonymous to high quality recruitment standards, use of updated technology and dedicated approach in the industry.

Mr. Samuel joined Elixir Web Solutions, soon after its inception, over 6 years ago, prior to which he worked as a freelance Consultant and did assignments for various clients on developing recruitment process, psychometric tests and training manuals. He started his own designing and Development Company called Prelude Media Communications and also ran a Paragliding club in Himachal Pradesh called Himalayan Para Adventures.

Mr. Samuel heads Elixir Web Solutions’ Third RPO Delivery Centre in Pune where he leads a team of over 50 experts, catering to the HR needs of companies of IT and ITeS domain. Mr. Samuel also sits on the board of Western Agro Products Pvt. ltd where he handles various other responsibilities.

Nihar Ghosh, is the Sr. Vice President – Human Resource for the Retail Sector of RPG Group, with responsibility for Spencer’s Retail Limited, Music World Retail and RPG Cellucom Limited. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Works from Indore School of Social Work in 1985.

Nihar is a seasoned HR professional with over two decades of rich and diverse background in Multinational Corporation, Family Managed Conglomerates, Federal Agency and Academic Institution in India, Middle East & Asia Pacific Region. His critical management and consulting assignments span FMCG, Food Processing, Petrochemical, Retailing, Knowledge Management and Health Care industry.

Nihar held HR leadership roles in Johnson & Johnson Medical India & Asia Pacific, Alghanim Industries and Human Soft Limited in Kuwait and at Profiles International in Dubai. In the early part of his career, he has also worked at IIM Ahmedabad, National Dairy Development Board and Reliance Industries. Nihar’s areas of interest include Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Organization Development and Performance Management. He is also an active trainer and process facilitator.

Mukul Rastogi

Mukul Rastogi is the Vice President of Human Resources of the Lifestyle Retailing Business Division. Rastogi joined ITC in 1989 after completing her Masters in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She began as a Management Trainee in the Packaging and Printing Division and then moved to the Tobacco Division. During her tenure in the Tobacco Division, she handled a wide range of responsibilities in Industrial Relations, Recruitment and Human Resource Management at the Unit level as well as at Divisional Headquarters. She moved to the Lifestyle Retailing business at its inception in 1999 to head Human Resources.

She is a member of the CII National Committee on Empowerment of Women at the Workplace for the year 2006-07.

Finished BE- Electronics from the Regional Engineering College of Karnataka, Surathkal and subsequently completed post graduation in Marketing from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Professional Experience

Began with Sales and Marketing stint in Asian Paints. This involved selling of decorative paints in the states of West Bengal and Goa. Moved on to be part of the brand management team, first handling Apcolite and then the exterior paint brand Apcolite Apex.

Joined Hindustan Lever Limited in 1996. Started the assignment with the project of setting the woodworking adhesives business for their Chemicals Division. Moved on to the Personal Products Marketing team as the Brand Manager for Hair Oils category comprising of the hair oils brands: Nihar and Clinic. Took over as the Regional Sales Manager for the Beverages business for the Eastern Region.

Currently assignment is Head of Operations for the Western Zone. This includes running of the 16 stores across the 3 formats of Big Bazar, Food Bazar and Pantaloons and coordinating the expansion within the Western Zone.

Akanksha Malik

Akanksha Malik is Director of Process, Quality Management and Training for RPOworldwide, a Recruiting Process Outsourcing (RPO) firm launched in early 2006.

Akanksha leverages eleven years of industry experience in varied leadership roles across international program management, training, test center management, instructional design, and usability specialization and client relationship management in her role at RPOworldwide; Akanksha’s deep experience with offshore delivery models, eLearning, quality assurance, Six Sigma and process management help ensure smooth process education to RPOworldwide’s employees, quality assurance and process for our clients, and overall training for the organization.

Prior to joining RPOworldwide, Akanksha was spearheading the setting up of the eLearning Center of Excellence (EL-COE) in India for the training arm of one of the largest divisions of Intel. Her role included providing strategic direction and building processes for training development while developing and managing the center’s operations. Akanksha played an instrumental role in the signing and management of outsourced elearning vendors for the COE.

Prior to her work with Intel India, Akanksha managed the eLearning practice at QAI India, a leading global consulting operation which addresses Operational Excellence in IT, BPO, and knowledge-intensive organizations. Akanksha was instrumental in setting up this new line of business for QAI India. She led the development and launch of a complete series on Software Engineering with Dr. Roger Pressman, an internationally recognized Guru on Software Engineering. She also undertook key strategic business initiatives including signing of a worldwide corporate deal with Hewlett-Packard, built new product lines, signed and maintained strategic alliances, developed pricing, outsourcing and reseller models.

Before joining QAI, Akanksha served in program management and technical communications capacities with organizations such as GE India, River Run Software Group, and PC World India. She set up the Test Center for PC World (India) to manage complete hardware and software reviews in house. She has many published leading stories and articles to her credit. She is trained on Six Sigma and on ASTD’s Human Performance Improvement Model.

Asim Handa
MD, Futurestep
Mr. Handa is the Country Manager of Futurestep, India. He has been successful in setting footprint of Futurestep in India and is now responsible for the strategy, management and overseeing the operations for the Country.

Prior to joining Futurestep, Mr. Handa was Head of Talent Search at EXL Service, a leading US registered BPO company in India. During his tenure, he was recognised for his achievements in conceptualizing and scaling up the Organisations capability from 1500 to 5000 employees per annum.

An avid athlete Mr. Handa was earlier a successful entrepreneur in Sports Event Management. He had been instrumental in amalgamating his passion and business acumen in the arena of sports marketing. He has worked with top MNCs and Indian companies for organizing sports related promotional events.

Mr. Handa began his career with Modi Xerox in 1983 and successfully marketed the Xerox brand in India. He was soon recognised for his performance when he became the youngest Branch Manager in the company. He was transferred to Chandigarh to head the North Indian region. Having created new sales records in the branch during his short tenure he was subsequently given the portfolio of Regional Sales Manager in 1988.

Being a prolific writer he has contributed towards several programs in the electronic media. For the print Media he has covered three Olympic Games in 1992, 1996 and 2000 for reputed National and International publications.

Mr. Handa holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce and a Masters Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics.

Mahesh 'Mac' Srinivasan

Mac has experience in the HR Domain for over 14 years. He has worked for the MPS Group as the Managing Director of Idea Integration, Chicago, which is a professional Staffing and IT Consulting division of the MPS Group. His accomplishments include becoming the Winner of the GE Center for Excellence in Web Methods for the company. He later worked out of Jacksonville, Florida, for another MPS Group company, Beeline, which provides workforce solutions that manage recruitment, development and retention for global companies. As part of Beeline he managed the customizations for their Vendor Management product at Merrill Lynch, New York.

Mac returned to India in 2003 to help SeatonCorp set up their IT, Backoffice and Call Center operations. SeatonCorp is headquartered in Chicago, with two operating companies: Staff Management and PeopleScout, www.peoplescout.com. Over the past 15 years, PeopleScout has revolutionized the RPO industry in the US with its “Structured Candidate Processing” methodology. Over 4.5 million candidates have been processed each year resulting in over 187,000 hires for its clients to make their high-volume hiring time & cost effective.

Mac is part of the Senior Management team of the SeatonCorp Group of Companies. With his guidance, Seaton has formally launched the PeopleScout brand and core operations in India in 2007. Leveraging its proprietary technology and processes, PeopleScout is geared to roll-out its Key Recruitment Partner (KRP) model in the PAN-Asia region.

Mac has an Engineering Degree in Electronics & Communication and has pursued a Masters Degree in Computer Integrated Manufacturing at Indiana State University, USA.

Other Interests:

Mac is the President of his Local Resident Association where he sphere heads community development and welfare activities. He also supports ‘Family Services’ – a charitable group that runs schools for underprivileged children among other activities. He is an active member of BNI (Business Network International), Bangalore, an international business networking group that gives members the opportunity to share ideas, contacts and most importantly: business referrals.

During his time off, Mac loves to spend time with his family and travel around the world. He loves to experiment with the latest electronic gadgets and technology, and is always a step ahead of his time!

Radhika Balasubramanian is currently Chief Operating Officer with M/s Sparsh BPO Services Limited, Intelenet’s Domestic BPO Company. She comes with a varied work experience of over 22 years in Sales, Operations, Human Resources and Customer services besides various stints as Profit Centre Head.

Her assignments were with reputed organizations like DHL Worldwide Express, Reliance Infocomm,M/s Bharti Telecom(Airtel).

Prior to taking over as COO of Sparsh, Radhika was the Chief Support Officer of M/s Intelenet Global Services Pvt. Ltd with accountability for HR, T&D, Employee Communications and Infrastructure & Facilities .Her expertise is in managing large scale operations involving multi processes and multi locations.

She is married and lives in Mumbai

Ms. Pratibha Pai
Faculty & Coordinator, HR College
 
A lecturer and Co-ordinator at the Bachelor of Management Studies Program, H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, Pratibha Pai got her post graduate Diploma in Business Management with distinction, majoring in Finance from the Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. With experience in the engineering, travel & time-share business, she found time to pursue her first passion, fitness, as an instructor with the then fitness Diva, Ramma Bans.

Her exposure to both industry and academia has helped her assume additional responsibility as a placement coordinator for the college. She has attended various seminars and workshops including the Asian Advertising Congress, “AD ASIA 2003”. Ms. Pai was faculty-in-charge of the student delegation to the Harvard Model United Nations in 2002, where she fostered academic linkages with some U.S. undergraduate institutions.

She has been on a faculty exchange program to Bethany College, West Virginia, USA in 2004, where she delivered talks on Indian culture and on India as the new business opportunity. She has been a member of a delegation of Senior Faculty that visited US universities (NYU Stern, Columbia and Carnegie Mellon) in November 2005 for a faculty enhancement program.

Ms. Pai heads the Women’s Development Cell of H.R.College and attends and organizes talks on women’s issues. She is a member of the Women’s Graduate Union and as a part of the Indian Federation of University Women’s Associations (IFUWA), has recently organized an Annual Conference on “ Women in the Third Millenium : Winds Of Change.”

Committed to meaningful social responsibility, she is a member of Passages,an NGO addressing women’s issues, and finds time to help Alert-India, an NGO involved in Community development & eradication of Leprosy.

Mr. Unmesh Pawar

Unmesh Pawar – currently Vice President HR at Accenture has over 12 year of experience in Human Resources Management across diverse sectors and companies like Peerless, Tata and Mastek. Unmesh in his current role has responsibility for defining and implementing the talent acquisition strategy for Accenture across its Delivery Centers in India.

In his tenure of almost six year at Accenture Unmesh has been part of the core leadership group that has helped setup Accenture’s footprint across India. He has successfully implemented a Functional Model of Recruitment that has enabled Accenture to acquire talent at an accelerated pace. In his earlier role as the HR Lead for Mumbai he has been instrumental in setting up HR and people practices at scale for India.

Unmesh has a Masters in Human Resources Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Lakshmanan (Laks as he is called by his friends and collegues) is a Post-Graduate in Management, specialised in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations with over 15 years of work experience. He has won several gold medals in his academics. Laks has Managerial experience in leading IT companies and worked across Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore in India and New Jersey, USA. He is Vice President – HR at Mphasis, An EDS Company.

Laks has extensive “hands on” experience in the follow areas:

  • Global Talent Acquisition and Deployment
     
  • Global Compensation planning and implementation of HR policies with an eye to retain quality staff. Hands on Experience of working on Senior Executive Compensation.

Ms. Mona Cheriyan

Mona Cheriyan manages the Human Resources Group of i-flex Solutions at Mumbai, Pune and Europe offices. She has over 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management and Training. In addition to managing the Human Resources team, she also manages the Global Immigration team, International Compensation formulation, Employee Engagement and various strategic initiatives. She has been with i-flex for over 13 years.

She leads a global team that is responsible for Organisational Effectiveness initiatives, Learning and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, Employee Relations and e-hr.

Mona is an alumnus of the Sophia College, Mumbai and is an expert in behavioral sciences. She has been instrumental in setting up i-flex’s HR policies and contributing to the growth of the organization from 238 people in 1993 to the 8000+ strong workforce today.

Besides i-flex, she has worked with NIIT, the ESSAR group and provided consulting services in the area of HR Strategy and Systems

Mona enjoys meeting people, cooking and traveling.

Mohinish Sinha leads the People and Change consulting practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers' India and is based in the New Delhi office. Mohinish has over 15 years of experience in organization and HR consulting, including seven years of experience in a corporate environment. Mohinish is a frequent speaker on the subject of workforce strategy and change and has been covered by leading business media in India. He is also serving as an Expert Advisor for Global Virtual Workforce for The Human Capital Institute, NY, USA. He has written articles on the subjects of integration challenges in mergers and acquisitions, reward strategies for driving organization performance. He also runs a monthly column in Business Standard discussing issues related to people and change.

Prior to PricewaterhouseCoopers, he has worked with Ernst & Young, Andersen, Citicorp Info Tech (now iFlex) and Cadburys.
